We're researching diagnostic risk prediction for cardiovascular disease in [specific indication — e.g. pregnancy-related hypertensive disorders, menopause transition, PCOS], a population and risk window that general cardiovascular risk models weren't designed around.
The problem
Widely used cardiovascular risk tools — the Framingham score, the ASCVD Pooled Cohort Equations, QRISK3 — were built and validated on cohorts that skewed male. Women often present with different symptoms, different biomarker patterns, and sex-specific risk periods these models don't account for at all.
